Question: Are they easy to setup and configure out of the box?

Short answer is no, however, it depends on two things: if the TV will be mounted or on a stand and if there is a paint or texture on the wall. It takes some time to dial in the settings for each respective step. Each installation setup requires calibration to not only get the ambient light sensor range correct but also to obtain maximum transparency.
