There are 3 really good HD projectors that I would recommend to you that are under $1,000. You definitely want to stick with DLP projectors and you want a color wheel that is faster 2X to avoid the “rainbow effect”. Here are the 3 you should look at:

– Optoma HD65 720p DLP Home Theater Projector. If you are looking for a good 720P projector for watching movie and playing games its definitely a good projector to consider. The picture is great.
For under 1000$ you can’t really go wrong.

– Optoma HD20 High Definition 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector looking, gloss-white finish. Low-noise fan on normal-bulb mode. 4000 hours lamp life on econo is greater then most projectors! Good enough to use in bright mode to use with lights turned on in the room. In the dark, it looks simply amazing!

– Optoma HD66 720P 3D-Ready DLP Home Theater Projector. Very nice projector, good colors, brightness and black levels. This is not going to compete with a $2k projector, but for its class, it does a really impressive job.
