How do I get the best quality from my TV?

By June 21, 2010 Highlights

Here’s the scoop. Manufacturers program their TVs to compete side by side with other TVs in the store. They blast the contrast and the brightness to try and steer your focus to their brand, then save these settings as the default. We call this “burn out mode” and can contribute to an early death of your TV. What can you do to combat an early grave for your investment? And how can you get the best quality from your TV?

To do this, you will need a video calibration DVD. There are a couple DVDs out there that are simple to use and user friendly. They will walk you through adjusting the brightness, sharpness, contrast, and color. There are more advanced DVDs available that you can actually adjust the pixilation, hues, ect but we recommend a certified specialist do the advanced stuff.

One disc we use is this one here: Digital Video Essentials

If you’re not feeling too confident adjusting the factory settings of your TV, Lanza AV offers full calibration services for TVs and Audio Systems too.
